The sun's radiation
is the largest available energy source on earth. Every day the earth receives
more than 10'000 times of the world's daily energy consumption through
the sun's radioation. Therefore, if only 0.01 % of this radiation would
be transformed into electricity, 10% of the world energy consumption could
be covered.

Approximately 10%
of the Swiss electricity consumption can be produced with today's PV technology
by using an area of only 6 m2 per inhabitant. That surface is only a fraction
of the roof areas existing today. The surface potential
in the Swiss building stock is considerably higher.
