IEA PVPS is the photovoltaics programme of the International Energy Agency (IEA). In this programme, 23 members (different countries and organisations) with 150 experts work on mutually defined research projects. IEA PVPS creates numerous technical publications and guidelines (recommended practice guides) in the framework of its projects. The projects involve technical and non-technical aspects of various applications, especially building-integrated, network-tied installations as well as island installations. As a long-term option, the concept of giant solar power plants in desert areas is being worked on. One project especially concerns photovoltaics in development cooperation.

With the support of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE) Switzerland takes part in different regional positions and within the REPIC platform is involved in selected projects of IEA PVPS.
